menstrual cup turns over how to do it

What to do if your menstrual cup turns over?

In some rare cases, La Cup may turn over or get in the way of the vagina.

This can happen with all menstrual cups and it is quite unpleasant and even stressful. Indeed, if it happens to you, at best you will be stained, at worst you will have difficulties to recover it.

Here are a few ways of trying to understand why this happens (and, above all, how to prevent it from happening again).

Since the launch of La Cup in 2015 and to date, we have received about 20 reports of rollovers. We investigated, and realised that this was happening to some menstrual cup users, not just La Cup Luneale .

In our case, when our clients were willing to talk in detail about this disappointment, we realised that most of them were quite athletic or had a toned perineum and had an arched back.

How does my cup get in the way?

It seems that when these people insert their cup, they tilt the pelvis forward (as we recommend), but they insert the cup not in the axis of the vagina but already a bit obliquely.

At this point, it is not a problem.

However, once the natural posture is regained, in the case of very arched people, combined with the fact that the perineum is toned would 'block' the cup.

The pelvis tilts significantly, and the cup is then placed in the wrong way. With a few movements during the day, the cup will either be placed across the pelvis or it will turn over.

This is how it looks in pictures:

Our tips for the cup to fit properly

To begin with, do not place the cup too high when inserting it. The bottom of the MoonPad should be about 1 phalanx away from the entrance to your vagina. It will come up by itself if its natural place is a little higher (unless you feel it, in which case, push it slightly towards the bottom of the vagina)

Then (this advice applies to all people, not just those who are arched and athletic), make sure you insert La Cup in line with your vagina .

To know it, your fingers are your best allies, because there are as many different anatomies as there are people, so on this point, we can't help you!

And finally, for people with a lot of backbone, we recommend that after insertion you return your back to its natural position a little slower than normal, and then check that the bottom of the MoonPad has remained in the right axis. Normally, everything should go smoothly!

How do I get my cup back if it has been misplaced?

If your cup has got in the way or turned over, don't stress about removing it. We know it's easier said than done, and we're not going to lie, you'll have a little more trouble than normal getting it out but it's definitely possible.

2 techniques that work for different people:

1 / Squat down, bend forward, push lightly with your pelvic muscles, it will go down and you will be able to catch the edge.

2 / Stand on the toilet with your legs apart, place your forearm on your thigh while leaning forward, round your back while pushing and you will be able to grab the rim.

We hope you find these tips useful. Please feel free to leave a comment if you need clarification or have any observations!
