Luneale menstrual cup vegan cup made in france

Does the vegan menstrual cup exist?

Vegans, vegetarians and more generally all people who care about the animal cause regularly ask us about Luneale 's position on animal testing and whether La Cup menstrual is vegan or not.

A point must therefore be made to address this concern.

A short glossary for people who do not understand the differences between these terms:

A vegetarian does not eat animals, a vegan does not eat animals or animal by-products (milk, eggs...) and a vegan is against all forms of animal exploitation (no wool, leather, products tested on animals, no zoos, etc...). Let's call this "big picture" the VGs

Those who are "non-VG" are therefore omnivores, some of whom declare themselves flexitarians (= they eat little meat), others locavores (= they eat local products)

In short, there are many terms that reflect a growing concern about the impact of humans on the planet.

And then sometimes things get crossed: there are vegetarians who don't go to the zoo, vegans who wear wool, omnivores who don't want products tested on animals.
In short, diversity is the beauty of the world: everyone acts as they want/can...

Obviously, silicone is not an animal product.

Like glass, silicone is derived from silica (sand, for short). See the full article on medical silicone

That said, the question is more about the use of animal testing.

Is La Cup Luneale tested on animals?

We are very attentive to animal welfare. La Cup Luneale has not been tested on animals. But that's a bit of a short answer.

Because any medical silicone, in order to be approved as "implantable inside the human body" by the European and American authorities, must have been tested on animals.
This is the rule, and unfortunately, the producer of our silicone had to carry out these tests so that we could guarantee the safety of Luneale (and more globally, of the hospital devices that are made of the same silicone as the La Cup Luneale). If it were possible to do otherwise, we would have done so.

That said, these tests took place when the brand and the quality of silicone we use were first introduced, so many years ago.

Are there any Vegan cups?

There is a label that agrees to give its approval when the silicone has been tested for some time. We could apply for this label, because we fit into its criteria.

But as always, we prefer to explain the reality of things.
For example, you will never see a cup labeled "cruelty-free" because the specifications are more restrictive in this type of label.
So it's all about the specifications.

What is Luneale's overall position as a brand?

All our skincare products and menstrual allies are vegan: they do not contain products derived from animal exploitation, and in accordance with European regulations, they have not been tested on animals. This is part of our convictions and our specifications, and we are very attentive to this.

In conclusion, there is no such thing as a vegan menstrual cup (strictly speaking). Sorry.
But in any case, if you are concerned about the planet, by using La Cup Luneale , you will throw away less waste.
