During menstruation, after emptying the menstrual cup, it must be cleaned. Some people prefer to clean it simply with water, others with a special cleanser. It's up to you to find out what suits you best.
We remind you that it isimportant to wash your hands thoroughly before handling. This considerably reduces the risk of transmitting bacteria from your skin, and therefore the risk of developing TSS.
To wash your menstrual cup during your cycle, you can rinse it with drinking water.
This is the easiest way to clean your menstrual cup during your cycles.
First, under cold water, run a finger inside and outside your menstrual cup to remove any residue that may have crept in. As there is no relief on the inside of the Luneale Cup, the blood will be removed very quickly.
Once the blood has been removed, you can raise the temperature of the water.
To clean your menstrual cup, you can also use a specific cleanser.
You may be tempted to wash your menstrual cup with a mild soap or conventional intimate cleanser.
Be careful though: these cleansers are often not suitable in terms of pH and composition, as they can leave residues on La Cup, which will therefore end up in your vagina. This can cause discomfort (fungus, irritation, etc.) and if their pH is alkaline, this can even have an influence on the development of the bacteria responsible for TSS.
If you want to clean your menstrual cup with a cleansing product, it is therefore important to choose one that has been tested for this use, such as La Mousse Lunealewhich has a suitable pH, an organic certified composition and is Cupfriendly (tested under gynaecological control for use with a menstrual cup)
When washing your menstrual cup, make sure that the holes are not blocked:
